We already saw Microsoft’s new version of Microsoft Paint, but the big new story today is the Surface Studio. The 28-inch all-in-one touch-enabled computer is built for creative professionals and has one of the most impressive screens around.

The screen has a total resolution of 13.5-megapixels, pushing it well-beyond the typical resolution found in 4K. It has a wide variety of color modes, and what Microsoft claims is one of the “most accurate screens available.” The machine uses TrueColor technology in order to churn out accurate colors.

The hinge on he back of the screen, lets the screen flatten out, so you can draw and write on it like you can with a Wacom Cintiq. At first glance, it looks rather incredible.

In addition to the pen, it has a “dial” that you can put on the screen and physically turn in order to control different functions within a program. So, in theory, you could sync it to things like contrast or color temperature in an editing program and physically adjust it.

All of the guts in the machine are housed in a small aluminum housing, including a quad core Core i7 Intel processor, a 2 TB hard drive, and even 2.1-surround sound speakers.

I’ll be getting some hands-on time with the computer soon, so check back to this post for some hands-on impressions.
