More and more wedding videographers and even some photographers are picking up drones as a way to provide unique images beyond what guests can capture with their iPhones. It takes a skilled pilot, however, so when a groom unleashed a flying camera drone at his wedding, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that it smashed into some guests’ faces.
You can read the full story over at the Boston Herald site, but there’s a bit of a spat about who is responsible. Two guests were injured pretty seriously, as you might expect when people get hammered in the face with spinning blades.
It should be a no-brainer that guests shouldn’t fly drones around at a wedding, but this is a nice warning for ambitious wedding photographers as well. If you’re going to try for the drone shot, make sure you have lots of practice under your belt before takeoff.
