  1. Hello Todd, your video is really informative. Thank you. I have just started out on youtube and have not found any real video on how to get the quality that you have in this video. I have the kit lens, but I see you are using the 50 mm F1.4. So I am thinking of getting the 50 mm F1.8 (affordable on my budget right now). Your focus and sharpness is just amazing. Would you have time to make a video on how you achieve this? More for indoors and not that much movement. Thanking you in advance, Danielle.

  2. hey ta ta ta Todd,.. your the man in i shoot raw,.. you rock todd,..

  3. So you were pushing and pulling the camera to get your close and wide shots for this? And then each time checking the focus?

Thanks for the video! I've been a lifelong photographer and am just now getting into video.

  8. Awesome video. Thanks.

  9. That's pretty handy, as they are the 'go-to' zoom lenses for photography as well.

  10. thanks for the sharing :D

Great video! I use primes for creative shots, but otherwise I totally agree with you. I was thinking about getting the new STM 10-18mm EFS for my 70d, …what do you think?

  12. I'm looking for a lens to film wildlife from a close to medium distance with image stabiliser, primarily whales, dolphins and porpoises from a research boat. I need a lens which can deal with low light and possible glare, which lens can recommend? Would really appreciate help and advice as I am new to using dslr cameras, thanks.

  13. Hello, my name is Silas. I'm a 17 year old film-maker undergoing my final year of schooling next year. For one of my subjects I'm planning to make a short film.

I have a Canon 7D and have both a Canon 50mm 1.4 and a Sigma 18-250mm 3.5 Lens. I find that the sigma lens isn't giving me the crisp quality I see that most others that film on the same DSLR get. I was wondering what Lens you would recommend me getting to improve the quality.

Thank you for your time :)

  14. Yay, one man bands ftw!

is there just one Canon lens that are great for video filming and photography???

  16. I enjoyed watching this Vid Todd…. I watch a lot of Jared's vids and now that you are on his show,,, I came across your channel…. I have some knowledge thought it is old lol from the time that I volunteered at my local access channel in my home state of CT. Behind the camera,, a littel bit in front of the Cam,,, and also working with audio… I have been kicking around  putting out a Documentary on  a project that is not only very heavy duty in its subject matter,,,, but also because it is a bit related to my work world… I am roughing out a storyboard on a daily basis.. Sooooo I am always checking out other peoples styles and also some of the roads that they went down in Vid, making,,, the good and bad,,, and the learning processes they had to go through.. Sorry for the ramble,,,, keep making more instructional vids when  you have the time. :)

  17. ow and one more question…. 🙂 do you recommend turning off "IS" when using a slider or a glidecam

  18. Thank you Todd. If you don't mind I would like to ask you a few questions. I sold not to long ago my 60D for the 70D for video purposes. I need to buy a wide angle L lens for professional purposes (slider and glidecam, filming outdoor in daylight) which one would you suggest ?
    The EF 16-35 f/2.8 II USM ?
    The EF 16-35 f/4L II USM ?
i know you use 2.8 but Is it really worth spending 500$ more for a 2.8? Thank you again for your time
BTW i have EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM as a standard zoom

  19. rokinon lenses are also good
