  1. Great video!

  2. Nice Flash! Are they some cheap options to start with battery included and remote?

  3. Hi Gavin, great video. Quick question, did you use rear curtain flash? Just confirming because your shutter speed seems too slow to freeze the motion??

  4. Love the photographer's voice and style! This video is very informative. Thanks so much!

  5. Thank you for making this video. Its very helpful. I wish that you would speak a bit more slowly though. Also I heard you say that the model consealed the cold. WRONG! She looked like she was freezing as you spoke. The end result was quite remarkable. Thanks

  6. Great video! Love your techniques! I do have a question though. If the light is coming from our left, what is the shadow on the ground in front of her and there is also a shadow in the mid-section of her dress?

  7. Great video for beginners. Thank U

  11. +Gavin Hoey… Very very helpful as usual.

  12. It must have been extremely dark out there if you could only get 1/10s at ISO 100 and f/2.8…

  13. Hey Gavin. I've been watching for a while now and have thoroughly enjoyed all your videos, many thanks for the inspiration.Keep shooting. cheers

  14. how consistent is the light output on the rovelight?

  15. 1/30 of a second and handheld with a 70-200?? that seems very slow. why not bump iso a tad to get faster shutter speed and reduce camera shake?

  16. Reality Dysfunction

Excellent tutorial Gavin. I've been impressed & grateful for all your clips so far. :)

  20. Thanks Gavin, love the vid. Can you clear something up for me? you keep saying you are metering the background at say F4 and then you meter the flash at f4 for correct exposure but if the background is 1stop darker in the final shot how can both the main subject and the background be at F4?
